Youth Empowerment and Health Education

AOYL empowers young people to make smart and healthy decisions for their future. We provide fundamental reproductive health education addressing all myths and stereotypes around menstruation, preganacy, sexual, and personal hygiene. We belive that having these discussions helps empower both girls and boys to have a healthy body, which will lead them to self-confidence while reducing the amount of teenage pregnancy and Hiv infections.

Vocational Training

Action Oriented Youth of Liberia works with local Mechanics and Carpenters in the communities where youths are opportune to follow a two-year apprenticeship, which earns them certification in car mechanics and Carpentry. AOYL has a network in Liberia to place the certified individuals into paid jobs.

Education

Action Oriented Youth of Liberia provides academic scholarships to help low-income families across the country to continue their education at both public and private institutions as well as the costs for transportation, among other education costs. Beyond financial support, AOYL scholars and their peers have access to a variety of support services, including tutoring, academic career orientation, and counseling.

In addition to our education program, we also provide youth with a dynamic summer camp workshops each year, for 9th-12th grade students between the ages of 13-21 years old at the end of December each year. We try to create a safe space for our campers to engage with each other by developing skills that they will use in the long and short term to give back to their various communities through Art, Media, Communications, Sports, and Graphic design. We believe that an empowered and engaged young people are the key to building a healthier and more resilient society.
